THE Kwara State House of Assembly on Wednesday summoned the state Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Fatimah Ahmed, and contractors handling various projects in the state, to appear before it on Friday over the poor quality of some projects.
The legislature expressed concern about the quality of jobs executed by contractors handling major projects, including schools across the state, describing some of the jobs as “shoddy.”
This was contained in a statement by the Director of Information, Kwara State House of Assembly, following observations by the legislators while on oversight visits to some of the project sites.
The Speaker, Mr Yakubu Danladi, said the work done by some of the contractors was not commensurate with the money paid to them.
At the Government High School, Adeta, Ilorin, the lawmakers lamented that the renovation carried out was below the N330m contract sum, the statement said.
Inspecting the solar panels project at the School for Special Needs, Salihu vowed that the House would probe the contractor for failing to execute the project despite receiving N22m out of the total contract sum of N32m.
